Cadence

The Florida breezes sweep off the harbors waters, a constant reminder of a boundary with the sea;
Horns from distant ships speak their mysterious cadence, mixing with the softer sounds of the palm leaves above;
Masts from the nearby boats sway high above the docks, dancing to hints of a coming storm;
When was this porch built, did they say, 1924?
How many others sat here as well since then?
Such simple thoughts to have on a day like this;
I: I am lucky to be alive, lucky to breathe;
I place my hand calmly down, resting on your leg;
Your inner seam fits well underneath my nails;
And as I catch your gaze, the steady wind gently mixes with the soft sun, highlighting your beautiful face.
