Overview
Like most sensual explorers, you may have always wanted to capture intimate moments with a lover on film (or disc), to keep these memories fresh and close to your heart. Unfortunately, the logistics of hiring a photographer, finding an appropriate location, and creating the right mood often meet head-on with issues of privacy and discretion. Enough said about the obvious. ...... In the end, you essentially have two options: (1) have your lover take pics of you, solely (which partly takes away from the "us together" theme you are trying to capture); or (2) have a trusted friend, photographer, etc. take the pictures for you. Notice I only mentioned two options. Many of you might believe there is a third, and that's to take pictures of yourselves using a remote camera with a time delay or some similar control. To me, this is NOT an option. The result looks too often, well, as if you used a remote camera. Output from this is poor to say least and greatly detracts from the whole intent!
Regardless which option you pursue, go for it! Taking pictures can open up an entirely knew world of sensuality in which to journey . Be brave; and here are a few helpful tips I hope you and your lover can use toward your fulfillment!
Lighting
Lighting: THE Key! I can't say this enough, lighting is really the key. Outside, the problem is not as challenging, but since indoor sessions are more likely, it's important to know which lighting techniques will give the best results. This is particularly true if you have dark tones in your wall colors.
If you can, take advantage of morning-to-mid-day sunshine streaming into the room, but DON"T have a brightened window show in the picture. (It will simply overpower the CCDs in the camera.) Flood the room with natural light, and then accent the space with lamps of directional ceiling lights located off to the sides of the frame.
Backgrounds, contrasts, and patterns
When considering the setting, think of light colors (not white-white) for backgrounds. Too much contrast of skin-against-backgrounds will undoubtedly give the illusion of a dark, dingy room. This is amplified further if your skin is rather pale to begin with. Try off-whites or soft light colors instead. Backgrounds of 100% black, however, are so extreme, they work regardless of skin color (use that to your advantage).
If your room had a distinctive pattern, a black and white tile for instance, try to incorporate this as much as possible to add zest to the images. A wooden floor, stonework, or art, any of these can be used to give your images a different flair.
Clean the place!
Clean up your room! If you are going to take pictures in your bedroom or someplace similar that has your personal belongings out and about, clean up the place. Don't leave odds and ends out that will surely find their way into the picture and detract from the sensual theme you are trying to create. This means, put your clothes away, dust, (recycle those empty wine bottles), straighten any wall hangings, clear your nightstand of all those magazines, etc. Set the scene just as a producer would!
You
Do you have dry skin? Go ahead, use a lotion if you wish, but DON'T use one that's oil-based. Your skin will spot-reflect any lights or flash, leaving your surfaces with uneven darks and lights as a result.
Taking your pics after a fresh bath or shower might help as well. That's more of a personal taste, perhaps. One thing that's a must, though, is to wash your feet! You'd be surprised how much the dirty bottoms of your feet will find their way into your pics. Give them a quick rinse! You will be glad you did, trust me!
The problem with lines...... Don't forget that lines caused by underwear/hose elastic can linger waaay after you've taken off the garments. These lines really seem to be highlighted negatively in pics, so be sure to prepare early. (Yet another reason to walk around nude all day.)
Last thoughts
Avoid straight-on shots - use slight angles, off-center images, or ones from above instead. They are great at implying sensuality without really blandly stating it.
My personal taste? Everyone is different, no doubt (and thankfully), but I prefer black-and-white images instead of color. I don't think camera colors capture reality well, if you don't have a lot of professional equipment that is. Also, BW prompts your imagination to build upon what your eyes are seeing. This isn't always the case; but I'd be willing to bet that more famous pictures of the human |
