What is a SommerScene?

For a long-long time, we humans have had a choice between two forms of nude art: (1) one that leveraged the sexuality of the models beauty and (2) another that used the models aesthetics for arts sake. They are, however, not the only options.

Another option to is to focus on the human dynamics that reflect art and erotica, as well as ALL of the wonderfully complicated elements of the human experience. We describe this complex blending of themes as a "SommerScene", to reflect the fact that when its all said and done we are merely simple beings seeking to live the human experience (also see What we want in a SommerScene).

SommerScene images are special in that the primary objective is to capture, celebrate, and forward the human experience as per the models erotic connection, fundamental beauty, and projective confidence. These three elements are absolutely key to a SommerScene.

Fine art is not discounted comparatively, but only so far as it does not overrule humanity. A picture of a beautiful couple where the setting is such that the viewer barely recognizes the figures or they are lost in a background would be art, but conversely, too esoteric and not what we are seeking as a SommerScene.

In contrast, SommerScenes are sincerely erotic in that they are totally human and focus on the beauty of the sensual expression they project. This beauty may or may not be limited to physical beauty alone. (Here, we will skip the endless and tangled [and often self-serving] argument of whether nude men and women are categorically pornographic or not.) Regardless if there is blatant sexuality in a SommerScene or not is inconsequential: human beauty and expression are primarily much more important.

For some, this is not always an easy point to comprehend, probably because thematic sexuality is so powerful. Just because a nude person tends to be associated with sexuality for many does not mean that the viewer must go either to one side and make porn or to the other side and create art (which can actually easily and oddly often discount the wonderful components of the human experience). An alternative is a SommerScene: a fully whole form of expression that focuses on the important aspects of being human and, more importantly, on the celebration of life.

A SommerScene, therefore, is about the human beauty, the human erotic connection, and projective human confidence of the model(s) or lovers. Just as they are (or just as he or she is) - without having to attempt to be something they intrinsically arent - without loads of obtuse props, artificial posing, or excessive make-up and faulty primping. A SommerScene captures natural beauty: men, women, and couples.

That is a SommerScene.
